Thirty years ago, on Thursday 13th June 1996, we went to the Canteen on Wooer Street in Falkirk to kick off a few days of celebration; it was our friends' birthday on the Friday, and on Saturday Scotland were playing England in the Euros (but sadly, we missed the game). A week later, we took an Alesis SR-16 drum machine and an acoustic guitar to MCM Studios in Hamilton, and our friend Paul Savage helped us turn our escapades into our first single – which makes Arab Strap thirty years old this year.
And while we don't want to dwell too much on the past – we'd rather focus on our new album, due in September – we thought we should at least acknowledge this anniversary in some way. So Aidan designed a new t-shirt inspired by what is inarguably the best Star Wars film; a silver, pre-stressed design that combines all kinds of nostalgic indulgences. Happy Birthday to us!
